ACDHT: Asian Conference of Design History and Theory
We are pleased to announce the 3rd international conference on design history and theory in Asia, dealing with various design-related topics, scheduled to be held once every other year. With the cooperation of a number of related associations and academic bodies, the conference will be held in parallel with each group’s regular meetings and an annual general meeting. A specific theme will be established for each conference, and the event will be defined by its relatively small scale and lack of a general session.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Nature has provided inspiration for countless design works. The relationship between people and nature varies according to the era and region, but people have continuously created a variety of designs and design philosophies. As nature rapidly changes due to global climate change, it is important to reconsider the relationship between nature and design. Therefore, this edition of the conference will concentrate on papers that deal with nature-related design and design philosophy.
The ACDHT 2019 FUKUOKA is now accepting submissions of abstracts based on the theme of “Nature and Design” with reference to the following topics:
- 1. Design Education
- 2. Design Philosophy
In addition to a focus on “Nature and Design,” we welcome proposals related to the history of design education or design philosophy in the broader sense.
All submissions will be reviewed by the conference committee. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a complete 3,000-word English paper made up of original and signifciant content by the deadline given below.
Papers should be 20 minutes in length, followed by a 10-minute discussion. After the conference, selected presenters will be invited to submit a complete 3,000-word English paper, which will be published in The Journal of the Asian Conference of Design History and Theory (ISSN 2189-7166; electronic version only).
